Doesn’t it always feel like the day after a long weekend is the longest day ever? It stretches out like that never ending highway in antifreeze commercials.

Movies I saw this weekend

  • Thirteen - Maybe I don’t get those “typical” coming of age, struggling through angst movies because that’s not the childhood I had. Through the half an hour I was able to stomach of this movie, I just wanted to scream at the protagonist to shut up and tell all those girls to fuck off. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of you. Especially not in high school/middle school. It’s such a tiny blip of time compared to the rest of your life. I’ve already been out of school for over half of the time I was in it. It feels like I just started living.

  • Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen - The title should have warned me off, but I’m a sucker for bad, campy movies. Talk about wanting to smack the main character. Jeez, just shut up and get over yourself. Please, before I kill you.

  • Get Over It - Now, this is satisfying camp. Cheesey, yet cute. An inaccurate representation of stage crew, but whatever. I’m not going to take that personally. Also, the male lead used to play a character named “Tucker”, with whom I fell completely in love.

  • Final Destination - The movie that would not end. And Ali Larder or Larter’s hair kept getting blonder and blonder throughout the film. Weird, but she looks better with dark hair, in my opinion.
